Introduction

The idea is to gather about 15-20 adults together to form a community on an island. I've figured that it will take between two and three million dollars to do. That's a lot of money, but split between twenty wage-earners, that's at most $200,000 apiece.

That's a lot of money, too. But there's one major investment that every American family looks at getting for themselves for that kind of money: a house. In this deal, you spend less money for a better community, and oh yeah, a private island.

The idea is to create a community as close to ideal as possible. It doesn't have to be a no-technology hippie commune. Today, thanks to solar power, satellite Internet, and diesel powered vehicles, it's perfectly possible to integrate "green" with "awesome."

That means that we'll live no-impact style: no unnecessary waste, living off the land. We'd support each other in ways that we find ourselves suited. I would probably be helping earn money by continuing to be a web designer online. I'd also help keep all the computers and other technology running. I'd also be happy to teach the children some History and Art, or English. Other people are perfectly happy gardening all the time; they'd help feed the community. Yet others might cook, or keep the boat or plane running. Each contributing, supporting.

It could work. The question is, are there enough people who would want to do it?
