Though I'm not sure I like to admit how much Andrew Sullivan has to do with it, I've been pretty convinced that Barack Obama is my candidate of choice for President for quite a while now.
There's a lot of reasons:
- He recognizes the difference between being informed by his beliefs and creating a nation of Christian Values.
- He recognizes that Health Care should be optional for people who already have it, want a private institution's health care, or just don't like being told what to do.
- Hasn't changed one whit his notions about Iraq from the beginning, and yet doesn't oppose force when it's necessary.
- Recognizes why Presidential power doesn't mean universal power.
There's a few things that concern me:
- Like most Senators, was a bit of an absentee, even for issues that he really should've been voting on.
